Generous Living, Generous Giving
“For it is in giving that we receive.” ―St. Francis of Assisi
Las Piñas City -- On the Solemnity of the Resurrection of our Lord, volunteers shared Bible stories to the children of the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Las Pinas City. The activity concluded with the Divine Liturgy concelebrated by Fr Jo. He preached the homily which focused on the Easter message. According to him, Jesus Christ is the only founder of religion who rose from the dead to demonstrate His power and authority. Moses, Muhammad, Buddha, Confucius, Laozi, Zoroaster, Charles Taze Russell, Felix Manalo are all dead. Any and all the founders of the world's religions are dead. Jesus rose from the dead with the promise of eternal life for all who follow Him. Finally, he emphasized that the Resurrection should influence our thoughts and actions. As Jesus is alive, we must strive to keep our Church alive by playing an active part in joyful celebration every week at Mass and completely involving ourselves in the service of our needy brothers and sisters. The Soup Kitchen followed right after the Divine Liturgy. We are grateful for every donation whether large or small and offer our sincere thanks especially to Ms. Hazel dela Cruz, Ms. Andy Yumol, Ms. Jacquelyn Aguirre-Bulao, Ms. Kenneryn Salazar, Ms. May dela Cruz and Ms. Baby Herrera for the food sponsorship. The meals consist of rice porridge served hot, homemade egg sandwiches, Filipino style spaghetti and juice drinks. After the children have had their fill, the children were so excited to receive take away cupcakes from Ate Hazel and Ate Andy. On a personal note, I'd like to thank Herminia, Bessie, and Jill who gave their precious time to prepare the sandwiches. The Council of Elders headed by Ms. Tess Astrero also deserve special recognition for their continued support in preparing and serving the meals. Thank you so much for helping us make a difference in the lives of these children. May the risen Lord bless you abundantly and bring lots of happiness to you and your family. Happy Easter!
