Generous Living, Generous Giving
“For it is in giving that we receive.” ―St. Francis of Assisi
Unlike most schools that have already opened this June, Jill’s academic year won’t be starting until July. They just wrapped up their school year last May 30, so she’s currently enjoying a well-deserved break. But today, she chose to spend part of her vacation in a meaningful way—visiting children who have already begun theirs. Her first stop this morning was at Bayanan Elementary School, where she joined the Grade 3 class of Mrs. Evelyn Castillo. Jill helped distribute school supplies and food packs, and the smiles of the students said it all. They were so happy to receive the basic materials they need for learning—things as simple as notebooks, pencils, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, pad paper, alcohol, loads of bond paper, and choco flakes. These small things matter and we hope they inspire the kids to keep showing up and doing their best.
In the afternoon, Jill visited Mrs. Regina Francisco’s kindergarten class at La Ciudad Integrated School. She enjoyed chatting with the little ones, helping them eat, and even joined in the clean-up after. The kids were thrilled with their kiddie meal treats—it was a joy just watching their excitement. After that, I asked Jill if she’d ever consider teaching kindergarten. Her honest reply? “Of course not!” After all, she saw first-hand how much patience, energy, and heart it takes to be a kinder teacher. More than just keeping her busy today, I believe the experience opened Jill’s eyes—to appreciate teachers more, to understand the different struggles students face, and to value the importance of helping those who help themselves. A huge thank you to all our generous sponsors who helped us prepare these school kits and snacks for the children. You may not have seen their smiles in person, but know that you’ve made a real difference. “As you lend to the needy, you lend to the Lord—and He will repay you.” – Proverbs 19:17
