feasting on the word
"If you meditate on the Scriptures it will appear to you in its brilliant splendor." ― St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Sirach 3:17-18, 20, 28-29 | Psalm 68:4-5, 6-7, 10-11 | Hebrews 12:18-19, 22-24a | Luke 14:1, 7-14 They say, “it’s hard to be humble when you’re great.” And honestly, that hits close to home in today’s world. One of the biggest struggles we see in our culture is the lack of humility. We tend to celebrate things like strength, looks, wealth, and status. But this weekend’s readings remind us of something deeper—the real value of humility.

Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Isaiah 66:18-21 | Psalm 117:1, 2 | Hebrews 12:5-7, 11-13 | Luke 13:22-30 Today’s readings really connect well. The first one reminds us to welcome God’s way of teaching us to be more inclusive, especially toward those who are often left out. The second reading compares God’s guidance to how a parent disciplines a child—meant to help us grow. And the Gospel challenges us to enter through the narrow gate into God’s kingdom, stressing that we shouldn’t delay.
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Jeremiah 38:4-6, 8-1 | Psalm 40:2, 3, 4, 18 | Hebrews 12:1-4 | Luke 12:49-53 Today’s Scripture lessons introduce to us living in the midst of adversity. In our First reading, Ethiopian eunuch Ebed-melech risked his life to plead for Jeremiah’s life to be spared from the cistern where the princes of Jerusalem intended for him to die. Our Second reading from the letter to the Hebrews reminds us that God wants us to run the race with endurance and finish it right. Finally, Jesus’ stresses the cost of discipleship warning us that new life with him may mean risking division and even separation from our families.
Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Wisdom 18:6-9 | Psalm 33:1, 12, 18-19, 20-22 | Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-12 | Luke 12:32-48 This Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, our readings remind us that true leadership always comes with stewardship and accountability. Today, we’ll reflect using the image of oil—oil that keeps the flame alive, smooths and sustains the workings of a system, and even slips off crowns and jewels, reminding us that power is never permanent. Our model for this kind of servant leadership is none other than Jesus, the servant of all.
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Ecclesiastes 1:2; 2:21-23 | Psalm 90:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14 and 17 | Colossians 3:1-5, 9-11 | Luke 12:13-21 Greed crowds our hearts and leaves no space for Jesus to live within us. God can truly make His home in us only when we are poor in spirit—willing to let go, empty ourselves, and detach from whatever keeps Him from filling us with His love. This Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, let’s reflect together on how living simply opens the door for God to dwell in our hearts.
