feasting on the word
"If you meditate on the Scriptures it will appear to you in its brilliant splendor." ― St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Sirach 35:12-14, 16-18 | Psalm 34:2-3, 17-18, 19, 23 | 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18 | Luke 18:9-14 Last Sunday, if you remember, Jesus taught His disciples about praying with perseverance—never giving up. Today, He takes it a step further and shows us something even more foundational: the importance of praying with humility.

Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Exodus 17:8-13 | Psalm 121:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 | 2 Timothy 3:14-4:2 | Luke 18:1-8 Prayer is both a struggle of faith and a victory of perseverance—and that’s the heart of this week’s readings. We see Moses holding up God’s staff for hours during a battle, his tired arms propped up by Aaron and Hur. Paul urges Timothy to stay faithful in preaching the Word, even when people push back. And Jesus tells the story of a widow who just won’t give up until an unjust judge finally gives in and grants her justice.
Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) 2 Kings 5:14-17 | Psalm 98:1, 2-3,3-4 | 2 Timothy 2:8-13 | Luke 17:11-19 The readings for this 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time teach us a beautiful truth: true faith opens our hearts to God’s mercy, moves us to give thanks, and leads us to the fullness of salvation. Each reading reveals a different face of faith—faith that trusts, faith that remembers, and faith that returns in gratitude.
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4 | Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9 | 2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14 | Luke 17:5-10 Today’s readings for the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time touch on faith, frustration, and the question of what’s “enough.” In Habakkuk, we hear a prophet openly complaining to God. In Timothy, we see encouragement given to a community struggling with fear. And in the Gospel, the apostles admit they want more faith than what they currently have.
Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C) Amos 6:1a, 4-7 | Psalm 146:7, 8-9, 9-10 | 1 Timothy 6:11-16 | Luke 16:19-31 I trust we all survived Super Typhoon Opong—though some of us probably complained more about the WiFi going down than the actual floodwaters. Let’s be honest, there are certain Scriptures we’d rather skip because they poke at our comfort zones. But as Venerable Fulton Sheen once said, “Sometimes the only way to get into people’s hearts is to break them.” Well, friends, brace yourselves—today’s readings for the Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time are divine wrecking balls. If you feel a sting in your chest while we go through this reflection, congratulations! That means you still have a pulse and a heart that God can work with. But if you sit through all this unmoved, untouched, and unbothered—well, maybe it’s time to check: did we misplace our hearts, or have they already flatlined?
