Generous Living, Generous Giving
“For it is in giving that we receive.” ―St. Francis of Assisi
Las Piñas City -- On the Third Sunday of Lent, our regular Faith Formation session started with the meditation on the sorrowful mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary. Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is a good storyteller. When Jesus was a small child, he must have listened to Mary and liked the stories she told. The children led the recitation of the holy Rosary.
The children and their parents attended the Divine Liturgy presided by Fr. Jo, who just celebrated his birth day yesterday. Fr. Menandro concelebrated and our visitors, Abs Gargante and Gelyn Montes proclaimed the readings and Mich Palce led the universal prayers. At certain parts, some children got restless and too loud. Our presider often uses silence as a way to calm everything down and refocus. He also reminds children to focus at various points, without singling out anyone. Having been into children's ministry for sometime now, we are getting used to these "holy noises" little by little.
After the celebration, the children were served hot and nutritious food. We are very blessed to have the involvement of so many dedicated men and women who volunteered to serve food: Thomasine brothers and fathers, Council of Leaders, Sta. Perpetua Youth Organization Alumni, Bessie my wife and Jill my daughter.
There was enough food for everyone! Mr. Robert Basco Jr. and Mrs. Leah Madera-Basco sponsored the meal which consist of spaghetti, butter coconut biscuits and juice drinks. Ms. Helena Samson and Ms. Goldy Berbano contributed fluffy sponge cakes (mamon) and croissants via Grab Express to beef up the meal. Anika, JM and their cousins distributed loot bags to all present. The children were so excited as they lined up to receive treats of biscuits, candies and chocolates. Our sponsors likewise gifted the community with a big box filled with free school supplies for the kids. These will be sorted out and will be distributed to these children whose families can't afford to purchase these for the upcoming school year.
The session ended with a "How To Be A Good Person" assignment. Each child was asked to list down three good deeds that they will be doing for Jesus during the week. This will serve as springboard for the discussion next Sunday.
Thank you for all your help in making the feeding program today possible. Know that your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of these children. May your tribe increase!
